Jaguar revealed the Jaguar Type 01 in New York on 6 October 2026 — an all-electric four-door GT with up to 1,030 PS from three motors, a 118 kWh usable battery and an 850-volt architecture. It is the first production car of Jaguar's new generation.
The Jaguar Type 01 is an all-electric four-door grand tourer built on Jaguar's bespoke JEA platform. A tri-motor all-wheel-drive system produces up to 1,030 PS (about 1,016 hp) and 1,365 Nm, 0–62 mph takes 3.2 seconds, and Jaguar quotes up to 400 miles of EPA range from its 118 kWh usable battery. Orders are expected to open in early 2027, with first deliveries in the second half of 2027.

Figures per Jaguar's reveal material. Full specifications are on the Jaguar Type 01 official specifications page, with independent coverage at Car and Driver.
One clarification worth making, because coverage has split on it. You will see this car reported as a 1,015 hp Jaguar and as a 1,030 PS Jaguar. Those are the same output in different units — 1,030 PS converts to about 1,016 hp. The same applies to the torque: 1,365 Nm is about 1,007 lb-ft. There is no disagreement between the figures, only between the measuring systems.
A top speed has not been published. Jaguar gave 0–62 mph and 62–112 mph but no maximum, so we are not quoting one. If you see a top-speed figure attributed to this car, check where it came from.
Jaguar Type 01 Range: Three Numbers, and the One That Matters
This is where most reporting on the Jaguar Type 01 goes wrong, so it is worth slowing down.
| Figure | What it is |
|---|---|
|
400 miles 644 km |
EPA rating, from Jaguar's launch material |
|
320 miles 515 km |
Jaguar's own highway-speed figure |
|
450 miles 724 km |
Cited from Jaguar's international model page; the rating behind it is not stated in the material we have |
These are three different measurements and must never be averaged or used interchangeably. The 450-mile number appears on Jaguar's international model page without a stated test cycle in what we can see; the 400-mile figure is explicitly EPA.
But the number to plan around is 320 miles and it is Jaguar's own. That is the company's stated highway-speed range, 20% below its own EPA figure, and almost nobody is leading with it. It is also the honest one: an electric GT at sustained motorway speed uses markedly more energy than a mixed-cycle test implies.
Run the arithmetic and the gap is clear. Across 400 miles the 118 kWh usable pack works out at roughly 18.3 kWh per 100 km. Across the 320-mile highway figure it is about 22.9 kWh per 100 km — a quarter more energy for every kilometre. The 320-mile figure was reported by Autocar Professional from Jaguar's material.
Charging and the 850-Volt Architecture
The 850-volt electrical architecture is the Type 01's most consequential piece of engineering. Higher voltage means less current for the same power, which means less heat and less copper and it is what allows a 350 kW DC peak.
Jaguar's headline claim is 200 miles added in 13 minutes, or about 322 km. Jaguar's model page has also been cited as quoting 10–80% in as little as 22 minutes, though that figure did not appear in the reveal coverage we have seen, so treat it as the manufacturer's claim rather than a confirmed test result.
A 0.23 drag coefficient is doing quiet work here too. On a car this heavy and this powerful, aerodynamics is the main lever on motorway efficiency, and 0.23 is genuinely slippery for a four-door.
What Is Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA)?
JEA is a platform built from scratch for Jaguar's new electric cars rather than adapted from an existing combustion or shared architecture. That matters more than it sounds: a dedicated EV platform lets engineers place the battery, motors and cabin where they want them rather than around the hard points of an older design, which is how the Type 01 gets a 50:50 weight distribution and the long-bonnet, low-roof proportions Jaguar wanted. Details of the platform are in Jaguar's official Type 01 reveal.
Design and Interior
The exterior follows the Type 00 concept closely — long bonnet, low roofline, wide body, and the Strikethrough motif Jaguar has adopted as a signature. On 23-inch wheels, it is a deliberately confrontational shape, and that is the point: this car exists to announce that Jaguar is doing something different.
Inside, a full-length central spine divides the cabin into four individual spaces, with a 24-inch display and a digital ClearSight rear-view system. It is a 2+2-style layout rather than a conventional five-seater, which is consistent with calling it a GT rather than a saloon — and worth knowing before anyone assumes it will carry a family of five.
Jaguar Type 01 Price and When You Can Order
Jaguar has not announced a price. We are not going to publish an estimate, because an invented number on a car this significant would be worse than no number at all.
What has been confirmed is the timing: orders are expected to open in early 2027, production begins in 2027 at Solihull, and first customer deliveries are expected in the second half of 2027. So the car is not on sale yet — anyone telling you otherwise is wrong.
Jaguar Type 01 in Pakistan: Could It Come Here?
No Pakistan launch, pricing or availability has been announced, so realistically this would be an import proposition rather than a showroom one — and before anyone gets to the price, there is a practical problem worth understanding.
This car can accept 350 kW. Nothing here comes close. The DC charger we covered at DHA Filling Station in Multan delivers 120 kW — roughly a third of what the Type 01 is built to take. That is not a criticism of the charger, which is genuinely useful for the EVs people actually own here; it is a reminder that the Type 01's headline charging figure is unreachable on Pakistani infrastructure for the foreseeable future. See our coverage of EV charging in Multan and the wider picture of EV charging stations in Pakistan.
For a grand tourer specifically, the EV charging stations on Pakistan motorways matter more than city chargers a 515 km real-world highway range is comfortable between major cities only if the chargers at either end actually work when you arrive.
Then the ordinary import questions: who services an 850-volt system, who holds the parts, and what a specialist repair costs when the nearest trained technician may be in another country. Our EV buying guide in Pakistan covers that checklist, and for what is actually available at the premium end today, see our piece on premium electric cars in Pakistan.
Why the Type 01 Matters More Than Its Horsepower
Jaguar stopped selling cars, redesigned its entire identity to widespread criticism, and asked the world to wait. The Jaguar Type 01 is the first product that has to justify all of that — which makes it one of the highest-stakes single launches in the modern car industry.
A thousand horsepower is not really the story. Plenty of electric cars make absurd power now; it is the easiest thing to engineer in an EV and the least differentiating. The real questions are whether the car feels special in ways a spec sheet cannot capture, whether buyers at this level accept a Jaguar that looks like this, and whether the brand can sustain a luxury position it has not occupied for decades. None of that is answerable yet, and nobody who has not driven the car — us included — can tell you otherwise.
Final Thoughts
The Jaguar Type 01 is a serious piece of engineering: up to 1,030 PS, 1,365 Nm, an 850-volt architecture and a 0.23 drag coefficient, on a platform built specifically for it. Two things are worth carrying away. The 1,015 hp and 1,030 PS figures you will see quoted are the same number in different units, not a contradiction. And of the three range figures in circulation, the one to plan around is Jaguar's own highway-speed 320 miles 20% below its EPA rating not the 400 or 450 in the headlines. No price has been announced, orders are expected in early 2027 and deliveries in the second half of that year, and nothing about Pakistan availability has been confirmed.
