Charging an EV in the city is a solved problem. The real question is what happens when you leave it and that is where knowing the EV charging stations in Pakistan along the motorway and highway network stops being useful information and starts being essential.
Coverage exists on the main corridors. It is not dense, it is not evenly spread, and some listed stations are not currently working.

EV Charging Stations on Pakistan's Motorways
Motorways are where intercity EV travel is won or lost. The good news is that the busiest corridors have charging. The caveat is that a motorway can run for hundreds of kilometres with only one or two charging points on it, so the margin for error is thin.
M-2 Motorway — Lahore to Islamabad
The M-2 has the best coverage of any route in the country, which makes the Lahore–Islamabad run the most comfortable long-distance EV journey available.

Bhera is the one to plan around it sits roughly midway and has the highest-power charging on the route. One thing to note: the 7 kW AC point at Dharrabi is a slow charger. It is useful as a top-up while you stop, not as a way to refill a depleted battery quickly.
M-1 Motorway — Islamabad to Peshawar
Coverage on the M-1 is thinner, and one of the two listed points is not currently working.

With Tarnol out of service, Rashakai South is effectively the charging point on this corridor. Leave Islamabad with enough range to reach it comfortably rather than exactly.
M-4 Motorway — Pindi Bhattian to Multan
Two charging points cover the M-4, which links into the Lahore–Multan route.

Two points across a long motorway leaves little room for a charger being occupied or offline when you arrive. Confirm status before committing to this route with a low battery.
M-5 Motorway — Multan to Sukkur
The M-5 lists a single charging point at Zahir Pir (reported operational).
One charger on a motorway of this length is the tightest situation on the network. Treat this stretch as requiring genuine planning rather than assuming you can top up on the way.
M-9 Motorway — Karachi to Hyderabad
Charging on the M-9 is listed at Nooriabad, with a further point near Karachi (ABB), both reported operational.
This is a comparatively short motorway, so most EVs will cover it comfortably on a single charge. The chargers matter more as a starting or finishing top-up than as a mid-route necessity.
EV Charging Stations on Pakistan's National Highways
Highway coverage is significantly weaker than motorway coverage, and this is where long-distance EV travel in Pakistan gets difficult.
N-5 / GT Road
The N-5 is the country's longest and most important highway. Its charging picture is uneven.

The pattern is worth reading carefully: only two of the six listed points are working, and three have no charging facility at all. Anyone planning a long journey through interior Sindh on the N-5 should treat charging as unavailable across much of that stretch and plan accordingly.
EV Charger Types on Motorways and Highways
Not all charging points are equivalent, and the difference decides whether a stop takes twenty minutes or several hours.
AC Charging
AC chargers on the network typically run around 7 kW to 11 kW. These are slow suitable for overnight charging or a long stop, but not for a quick motorway top-up. A depleted battery on a 7 kW point will take many hours, which is why the Dharrabi charger on the M-2 should be understood as a convenience rather than a rescue.
DC Fast Charging
DC fast chargers on the network range from around 60 kW up to 160 kW, and these are what make intercity travel practical. A DC stop is measured in tens of minutes rather than hours.
One important qualification: the charger's rating is a ceiling, not a promise. Your car draws power up to its own maximum DC capability, and charging also slows as the battery fills and if the pack is very hot or cold. A vehicle limited to 60 kW gets 60 kW at a 160 kW charger.
Connectors
CCS2 is the common DC fast charging connector on vehicles sold here. Confirm your car's connector before a long trip it takes a minute and prevents the worst possible discovery, which is arriving at a working charger you cannot physically use.
How to Plan an EV Road Trip in Pakistan
1. Start with a full charge. Leave home or your hotel at maximum range rather than assuming you will top up early in the journey.
2. Map your charging stops first. Plan the route around the chargers, not the other way round. On some corridors there is only one realistic option.
3. Verify status before departure. As the tables above show, a listed station is not necessarily a working one. Check before you leave, not when you arrive.
4. Keep a reserve. Aim to reach each charger with meaningful range remaining. Arriving on 3% leaves you with no options if the charger is occupied or offline.
5. Factor in speed and traffic. Sustained motorway speed consumes considerably more energy than city driving, so range estimates based on urban use will overstate what you get.
6. Account for weather. Extreme heat affects battery performance and charging speed, and air conditioning draws meaningfully on range.
7. Never depend on a single charger. On routes with one charging point, know what your fallback is — even if the fallback is a longer stop at a slower charger.
EV Charging Tips for Motorway Drivers
Charge to 80%, Not 100%
DC charging slows dramatically above roughly 80% as the battery management system protects the pack. The last 20% can take as long as the first 80. On a journey with multiple stops, two shorter stops to 80% usually beat one long stop to full.
Check Charger Status Before You Leave
This is the single most valuable habit for driving an EV in Pakistan. Station status changes with maintenance and power availability, and discovering a charger is down after 200 km is a genuinely serious problem.
Slow Down When Range Gets Low
Energy consumption rises sharply with speed. Dropping from motorway pace to a more moderate speed can extend remaining range noticeably — often enough to turn a stressful situation into a comfortable one.
Respect Summer Heat
Pakistani summer temperatures affect both battery performance and charging speed. A hot pack accepts less power, so a mid-afternoon DC stop in peak summer may be slower than the same stop in cooler conditions. Build extra time into hot-weather journeys.
E-Bikes and E-Scooters Need Different Provision
Most motorway charging points are built for cars. Electric bikes and scooters generally use different connectors or standard sockets, so riders should not assume a motorway charger will serve them. Carry appropriate charging equipment and plan around locations with standard power access.
Are EV Charging Stations Available on Pakistan's Motorways?
Yes — but coverage is uneven.
The main corridors have charging, with the M-2 comfortably the best served. Coverage thins considerably on the M-5, and large parts of the N-5 have no charging at all.
The practical difference from petrol is one of density. Fuel stations are frequent enough that you never think about them; charging points are sparse enough that they have to be planned for. The EV charging stations in Pakistan along the motorway and highway network make intercity electric travel possible, but not yet effortless. The M-2 is well covered and the Lahore–Islamabad route is genuinely straightforward. The M-5 has a single charging point, Tarnol on the M-1 is out of service, and much of the N-5 through interior Sindh has no charging facility at all. Plan your route around the chargers rather than the other way round, verify status before you leave, and always keep a reserve.
