Chery has revealed two new SUVs in China. The Chery Tiggo X7 and new Tiggo 7 both made their global debut on the same night.
The event was Chery Brand Night. It took place on 21 October 2026 in Wuhu, in Anhui province.
Plenty of specification claims are already circulating online. Almost none of them come from Chery.
So this article does two things. It reports what Chery actually said. Then it covers the part that matters here, which is the new Chery Tiggo 7 in Pakistan question and the car you can buy today.
What Chery Actually Announced
We read Chery's own debut announcement. Here is everything it confirms.
Both models were shown on 21 October 2026 in Wuhu. The all-new Tiggo 7 is positioned as a family SUV. Chery describes it as offering comfortable space, dependable quality and comprehensive safety.
The Tiggo X7 gets a different label. Chery calls it a "Family Comfort Exploration SUV". It is also the first model in a new TIGGO X series.
That is the whole of it. Two cars, one date, one sentence of positioning each.
What Chery Did Not Announce
This part is more important, because it explains the figures you may have read elsewhere.
Chery's announcement publishes no technical specifications at all. Not one number.
There are no dimensions and no wheelbase. No ground clearance and no wading depth. No drivetrain, so nothing confirming all-wheel drive on either car.
There are no engine or motor outputs either. The release does not even state whether these cars are petrol, hybrid or electric.
So where do the detailed specs online come from? Mostly from Chinese regulatory filings, reported second-hand.
Those filings are often accurate. But they are not a manufacturer announcement. We will publish specifications for these two cars when Chery publishes them, and not before.
The Two Cars Are Aimed at Different Buyers
One thing is clear from the wording Chery chose. These are not two versions of the same SUV.
The new Tiggo 7 is the everyday car. Chery talks about commutes, school runs and weekend trips.
The Tiggo X7 is pitched wider. Chery says it combines urban comfort with capability across varied road conditions.
Starting a separate TIGGO X series says more than the words do. A new series usually means a different platform strategy, not a trim level.
The Tiggo 7 You Can Buy in Pakistan Today
This is the car that matters for most readers. It is a plug-in hybrid, and it is already assembled here.
Every figure below comes from Chery Pakistan's own Tiggo 7 brochure. It covers one variant, the Premium 2WD.
| Tiggo 7 Premium (2WD) | As published |
|---|---|
| Length, width, height | 4,553 x 1,862 x 1,696 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,670 mm |
| Ground clearance | 175 mm |
| Engine | 1.5TGDI, 1,499 cc |
| System power | 255 kW, quoted as 342 hp |
| System torque | 525 Nm |
| Battery | 18.3 kWh |
| Electric range | "Up to 90+" km |
| Combined range | "Up to 1200+" km |
| Drive and gearbox | Front-wheel drive, DHT |
| Seats | 5 |
The brochure names no four-wheel-drive variant, no charging time and no price. Ask the dealer for those in writing.
Note the 175 mm ground clearance. That is a road car figure, not an off-road one. Keep it in mind if you have seen the rugged styling of the new X7 and assumed the current car is similar.
One Powertrain, Three Badges
Here is something you will not find in a showroom brochure. We checked three official Pakistani sites and found the same hybrid system three times.
| Figure | Chery Tiggo 7 | JAECOO J7 | OMODA 7 |
|---|---|---|---|
| System power | 255 kW | 255 kW | 255 kW |
| Torque | 525 Nm | 525 Nm | 525 Nm |
| Battery | 18.3 kWh | 18.3 kWh | 18.4 kWh |
| Electric range | 90+ km | 90+ km | 90+ km |
| Engine | 1.5 hybrid | 1.5 hybrid | 1.5 hybrid |
Chery owns both JAECOO and OMODA. So this is one group powertrain fitted to three different bodies.
That is worth knowing before you spend a weekend test driving all three. You will not find a performance difference, because the hardware is shared.
So compare them on the things that actually differ. Body style and cabin space. Equipment level. Warranty terms. Dealer network and parts supply. Price.
One small oddity. Chery quotes 255 kW as 342 hp. JAECOO quotes the same 255 kW as 341 hp. The maths gives 342, so the cars are identical and one brand is simply rounding down.
The Range Figure Has No Test Standard
Look again at the electric range in the table. It says "up to 90+" kilometres.
The brochure does not say which lab test produced it. Its disclaimer says only that figures are based on controlled testing and estimates.
That matters, because range figures are not interchangeable. The same car scores differently under NEDC, CLTC, WLTP and EPA testing. NEDC is the most generous and EPA the strictest.
And there is no formula to convert between them. Anyone who turns one into another is estimating.
So treat 90 km as a ceiling. In Multan traffic with the air conditioning running, expect less. Ask the dealer to name the cycle in writing before you compare two cars.
What Independent Testing Says About This Variant
Chery has been running a safety campaign alongside the reveal. It is worth separating two different things carefully.
First, Chery's own demonstration. The company says the Tiggo 7 passed a 50 km/h crash test against a truck on 22 October. It took place at Chery's own Longshan laboratory and was broadcast live.
Chery's management says the pillars and doors stayed intact, with no significant cabin intrusion. No independent body is named for that test, and no measurements were published. So it is a company demonstration, not a rating.
Chery also states that the Tiggo 7 series holds five-star ratings from C-NCAP, Euro NCAP, ANCAP and ASEAN NCAP. That is the company's own statement about the series as a whole.
Second, the independent record. Euro NCAP's 2025 datasheet covers the Tiggo 7 1.5 plug-in hybrid, Premium trim, 4x2.
That is the same variant Chery Pakistan's brochure sells here. So this one is directly relevant to a Pakistani buyer.
Euro NCAP recorded 80% for adult occupant protection and 77% for child occupant. Vulnerable road users scored 80% and safety assist 78%.
It also noted specific problems. The driver's knee airbag did not deploy properly. The side curtain airbag detached from the roof rail, and the ten-year-old dummy lost all its points in the side barrier test. Child presence detection scored nothing.
The datasheet we read does not print an overall star count. So we are not stating one, in either direction.
None of this makes the car unsafe, and the percentages are respectable. But a claim about a whole series is not a result for one variant. Ask your dealer for the rating and the test year for the exact car you are buying.
Will the New Models Reach Pakistan?
Honest answer: nobody has announced it, so nobody knows.
There is no confirmed Pakistan launch date for either car. There is no confirmed price. We will not invent either one.
What we can say is that the pattern here is well established. A model is revealed globally, then considered for local assembly, and only later priced.
Our coverage of the BYD Sealion 6 and its local assembly plan shows how long that road can be.
It also shows how four words get confused. Revealed, announced, open for booking and actually deliverable are different stages. A car can be widely discussed while its price stays unconfirmed.
Looking After a Tiggo 7 Here
One practical note for owners of the current car. A plug-in hybrid carries its charging cable in the boot.
That cable comes in and out most days, and dust comes with it. Exact-fit floor mats make that much easier to keep on top of.
Glossy trim and touchscreens mark quickly in our climate. Interior protection film is cheapest to fit while the car is still new.
Window visors are the other common request on these SUVs. They let you leave a gap in the heat without taking rain inside. Our air press and sunvisor range fits to the door frame.
We stock model-specific ranges across the wider Chery group too, such as the JAECOO J5. Message us with your exact variant and year and we will confirm the fit first.
Final Thoughts
The reveal is real and the two cars are clearly aimed at different buyers. But almost every specification circulating about them is unofficial, so treat it that way until Chery publishes the numbers itself.
For anyone buying now, the more useful discovery is the shared hybrid system across all three group SUVs. Shop them on space, kit, warranty and price, because the performance is the same.
And ask the dealer two questions nobody volunteers. Which test cycle produced the range figure. And what safety rating applies to your exact variant.
We are not a car dealer, so take prices and launch dates from the authorised distributor. What we do is help you live with the car. Our team fits accessories in-house in Multan, and we will tell you honestly if we have no exact-fit part for your model yet.
