The Thal Desert Rally 2026 has been rescheduled again. The 11th edition is now set for 5–8 November 2026 in the districts of Muzaffargarh and Layyah, billed as the Thal Desert Rally & Cultural Festival.
If you were working to the October dates, those are gone.

Thal Jeep Rally 2026 New Dates: November 5–8
The Thal Desert Rally 2026 dates have now moved twice. Here is the full sequence, because most coverage only mentions one of the two changes.

All dates 2026. The event is now 27 days later than first planned.
The first delay was announced on 1 October by the district administration, which cited weather conditions in Muzaffargarh along with administrative issues. The specific administrative issues were not disclosed. No reason has been given publicly for the second move to November.
The Rally Has Not Just Been Delayed — It Has Been Restored
This is the part worth noticing, and we have not seen it reported anywhere.
Look at the day counts in that table. Both October attempts were three days, Friday to Sunday. The November schedule is four days, Thursday to Sunday.
Now compare it with last year. The 10th edition ran Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 November 2025 — four days, Thursday to Sunday. The 11th edition runs Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 November 2026, which is exactly 364 days later. Fifty-two weeks, to the day, in the same weekday slot.
So the November move has not merely pushed the rally back. It has put the event back into its established four-day November window and restored the day it lost in October. Read that way, the October dates look like the experiment and November looks like home.
Where Will Thal Jeep Rally 2026 Take Place?
The Thal Desert Rally 2026 announcement names two districts: Muzaffargarh and Layyah, across the Thal Desert.
That is a narrower list than you may have seen elsewhere. Kot Addu featured in the previous edition, and TDCP's general rally material has historically mentioned four districts including Jhang.
For this edition, only Muzaffargarh and Layyah have been named. We are not going to list the others as 2026 venues until the route says so — if you are travelling to watch, that distinction decides where you drive.
Thal Rally Categories and Off-Road Racing
Previous editions of the Thal Desert Rally have run Stock, Prepared and Women categories.
We are describing those as past practice rather than confirmed 2026 classes, because the 2026 category list has not been published in anything we could verify. Category structures do change between editions, and this one has already been rescheduled twice.
The 2026 event is also being presented as a rally and cultural festival rather than a race alone, with cultural performances alongside the desert racing. If you are going as a spectator rather than a competitor, that changes what the weekend actually is.
What Spectators and Participants Should Know
Here is the honest position on the detail, and we would rather say it plainly than fill the gaps.
No day-by-day programme has been published. Qualifying days, race-day timings and the prize ceremony are all unannounced. Any schedule you find circulating is likely built on the October dates and is now wrong.
Registration and scrutineering deadlines have not been republished either. A 27-day move almost certainly shifts them, but by how much has not been stated. If you are entering, treat every previously announced deadline as void and confirm directly.
Route, spectator access points and safety instructions are also unpublished. Check the official Thal Jeep Rally information from TDCP for rules, categories and registration rather than relying on any secondhand schedule — including ours. We will update this page as the organisers confirm each piece.
A Local Event for Us
The Thal Desert sits on Multan's doorstep, so this is a home event for us and for a lot of our customers — and the November dates are genuinely better for it. Early November in South Punjab is far kinder for standing out in open desert all day than mid-October, and a Thursday-to-Sunday run means you can go for the weekend without taking leave. If you are driving out to Muzaffargarh or Layyah to watch, the dust is the thing to plan for: it gets into carpets and boot linings and does not come out, which is why TPE floor mats and a trunk mat are worth having before the trip rather than after it.
