Nora Metro vs Suzuki Alto: Electric vs Petrol – Which Is Better?

In the Nora Metro vs Suzuki Alto contest, the Metro is an electric city car that costs far less to run, while the Alto is a petrol hatchback with an established brand and easy refuelling. The Metro Deluxe is listed at Rs 2,899,999 before GST, and the Alto VXR at Rs 2,994,861 with taxes included. The Metro's energy cost works out to roughly a quarter to a third of the Alto's.

Nora Metro and Suzuki Alto Price in Pakistan

Nora EV's dealer circular dated 20 October 2026 puts the Metro Deluxe at Rs 2,899,999. That price is ex-Karachi warehouse, excludes GST, transport and insurance, and is provisional, so the price at the time of invoicing is final. Booking needs Rs 500,000 upfront. Our Nora EV prices in Pakistan guide covers the full lineup, and the figures were reported by ProPakistani.

The Suzuki Alto VXR is listed at Rs 2,994,861 on Suzuki Pakistan. That price already includes 18% sales tax and the 1% Climate Support Levy. This matters: the two prices are not measured the same way, so you cannot say the Metro is cheaper. Once GST and other charges are added, the Metro's final price will be higher than Rs 2,899,999 by an amount that depends on the tax applied.

Metro figures from Nora EV's 20 October 2026 circular. Alto figures from Suzuki Pakistan and PakWheels. Recheck before you buy.

Engine, Motor Power and Performance

The Metro uses a 7,000-watt motor in the October circular, but Nora's own website has listed 4,000 watts, so check the current figure with the company. The Alto has a small 658 cc engine that is well suited to city traffic because the car is light. We have not found verified top-speed or acceleration figures for either car, and we would rather say that than quote a number we cannot confirm.

Nora Metro Battery Capacity, Range and Charging Time

The Metro has a 23.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with a claimed range of 250 km and a claimed charging time of six to eight hours, on a 72-volt system. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent tests. Real range will vary with speed, AC use, load and road conditions, so plan for less than 250 km on a hot day with the AC running.

Interior Features and Convenience

The Metro Deluxe is reported to have a touchscreen, power windows, keyless entry, push-button start and a reversing camera. The Alto VXR has power windows, power steering, power door locks, keyless entry, an immobilizer and air conditioning. Whichever you choose, quality car floor mats and interior accessories protect the cabin from day one.

Safety Features: Which Car Is Safer?

The Alto VXR lists two airbags, an immobilizer and power steering. For the Metro, the price circulars do not list airbags or other safety equipment, so we cannot say which car is safer. Ask the dealer for the written equipment list for the exact variant, and do not assume that features from a higher Alto trim apply to the VXR.

Nora Metro vs Suzuki Alto Running Cost

Here are the assumptions. Petrol is about Rs 378 per litre, the Alto returns 18 to 20 km per litre with the AC on, electricity costs Rs 60 per unit, and the Metro uses its full 23.1 kWh for its claimed 250 km. These are estimates, not test results.

At 18 to 20 km per litre, the Alto costs Rs 18.90 to Rs 21 per kilometre, or Rs 18,900 to Rs 21,000 for 1,000 km. A full charge of the Metro costs about Rs 1,386, or about Rs 5.54 per kilometre, which is roughly Rs 5,544 for 1,000 km. That is a saving of about Rs 13,400 to Rs 15,500 per 1,000 km.

If you drive 1,000 km a month, the difference comes to roughly Rs 160,000 to Rs 185,000 a year. Charging losses, your real electricity tariff and your real petrol average will all change the result. For the fuel side, see our latest petrol price in Pakistan page.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Both Cars

The Metro's main strength is its low energy cost, plus a long list of convenience features for the money. Its weak points are an unconfirmed final price, a claimed rather than tested range, a charging time of six to eight hours, seating for four, and a new brand whose service network is still unproven.

The Alto's strength is familiarity. It has Suzuki's established dealer network, it refuels in minutes at any pump and it needs no charging plan. Its weak points are the higher running cost and exposure to petrol price swings. Alto owners can also browse Suzuki Alto accessories in Pakistan and our wider Suzuki car accessories range.

Which Car Should You Buy in Pakistan?

The Metro makes more sense if most of your driving is in the city, you can charge at home or work, and you want the lowest running cost. The Alto makes more sense if you take frequent long trips, cannot rely on charging, or want a brand you already know. Compare the final on-road price of each, with all taxes, before you decide, because the listed prices are not directly comparable. The Nora figures also come from the manufacturer's circular, so confirm the specification with the company. See Business Recorder's report on the circular.

Final Thoughts

The Nora Metro vs Suzuki Alto choice comes down to running cost against familiarity. The Metro could save you well over Rs 100,000 a year in energy costs on our assumptions, but its final price, real range and service support still need confirming. The Alto is the lower-risk, higher-running-cost option. Whichever car you pick, protect it from day one.
