Mercedes CLA 200 EQ Arrives in Pakistan: Price, Range & Technology

The Mercedes CLA 200 price in Pakistan has been advertised at around PKR 26.5 million. A slightly lower figure is also circulating, and no official price list was reachable to settle it.

There is something more important than the price, though, and almost nobody is asking about it.

This car runs an 800-volt system, and that may decide which chargers it can use at all.

What Is and Is Not Confirmed About the Price

A distributor advertisement dated 28 September 2026 promoted the electric CLA 200 from PKR 26.48 million. Other local listings have carried PKR 26.2 million.

Those two do not agree. That matters when the gap runs into lakhs.

We could not reach an official Mercedes-Benz Pakistan or distributor price page to settle it. So we are reporting both as advertised rather than confirmed.

Confirm the current figure with the authorised distributor before booking, and ask what it includes.

One other thing. If the car was already advertised and offered, a later event is a launch event, not a first introduction.

The Question to Ask Before You Pay

Here is the issue, and we would want it answered in writing before handing over that much money.

The CLA's battery system runs at 800 volts. A great many public DC fast chargers are built around 400 volts.

European reporting on this car says Mercedes fitted no voltage booster. It also did not use the battery-splitting method that lets some rivals work on 400-volt stations.

On that account the car does not charge slower at a 400-volt station. It does not charge.

The same reporting says the navigation routes drivers towards compatible stations. That fits the picture.

We could not confirm this with Mercedes directly. So treat it as reported rather than settled, but treat it as the question that matters.

Ask the distributor plainly which DC chargers available in Pakistan this car will accept, and get the answer on paper.

Why 800 Volts and 400 Volts Are Not Interchangeable

A DC fast charger feeds the battery directly, without the car converting anything.

That is what makes it fast. It also means the charger has to supply the voltage the pack actually wants.

An 800-volt pack on a 400-volt charger gets half the voltage it needs. Something has to bridge that gap.

Some cars carry a booster that steps the voltage up. Others split the pack into two halves that can each take 400 volts.

A car with neither has no way to use that charger.

None of this affects charging at home, which is alternating current and goes through the car's own on-board charger.

What the CLA 200 Actually Is

These are the international specifications. Pakistan equipment should be confirmed separately, because it often differs.

Specification CLA 200 with EQ Technology
Motor 165 kW, rear-wheel drive
Output 224 PS, about 221 hp
Torque 335 Nm
Battery 58 kWh usable, 60 kWh nominal, LFP
Architecture 800 volt
WLTP range 514 to 541 km by configuration
0–100 km/h 7.5 seconds
DC charging Up to 200 kW, 10 to 80% in about 20 minutes
AC charging 11 kW, with 22 kW optional
Luggage 405 litres, plus a 101 litre front boot

One naming note, since it causes real confusion. CLA 200 has historically been a petrol badge.

Mercedes has reused the 200 on an electric car, so the name alone no longer tells you what is under it.

224 Is a PS Figure, Not Horsepower

You will see this car described as a 224 hp machine. That is not quite right, and the difference is worth a moment.

There are two power scales in common use. Metric PS and mechanical horsepower are close but not identical.

The motor makes 165 kilowatts. In metric terms that is 224 PS, which is where the familiar number comes from.

In mechanical horsepower the same motor is about 221.

A three-unit difference changes nothing about how the car drives. It matters when comparing brochures from different markets.

The Battery Is LFP, and That Changes Ownership

The CLA 200 uses a lithium iron phosphate battery, while the dearer version uses a nickel-based chemistry. That is not a detail.

Start with the good news, because it is genuinely useful and rarely mentioned.

LFP batteries can be charged to 100 percent routinely. Nickel-based packs are usually better left around 80 percent for long life.

So an owner can use the whole battery without worrying, which partly offsets having less of it.

It also shows in the buffer. Of a nominal 60 kWh, 58 kWh is usable, which is nearly 97 percent of the nameplate.

A nickel-based pack we examined elsewhere offered about 95 percent. So the LFP car hands you more of what you paid for.

The trade-off is cold weather. LFP is the weakest of the common chemistries there. No issue in Multan, worth knowing for a northern winter.

Two WLTP Numbers, Not One

Range figures for this car vary, and not because anyone is being careless.

The WLTP test is run on more than one configuration. The efficient one returns 541 kilometres. The higher-equipment one returns 514.

That is a 27 kilometre spread, about five percent, from wheels and equipment alone.

So any single WLTP number for this car is one of two, and you should ask which.

And WLTP is a laboratory cycle, not a promise. Heat, air conditioning and motorway speeds all take their share.

Two Hundred Kilowatts Is a Peak, Not an Average

This is where the charging story gets more encouraging, and it is simple arithmetic.

Going from 10 to 80 percent on a 58 kWh battery means adding about 40.6 kilowatt-hours.

Mercedes quotes roughly 20 minutes for that. Twenty minutes to deliver 40.6 units needs an average of about 122 kilowatts.

So the 200 kilowatt headline is mostly headroom. A charger holding 120 kilowatts would take around 20 minutes too.

So the gap between a 200 kilowatt rating and a 120 kilowatt charger costs far less than it looks.

Small batteries do not need enormous power to fill quickly. The peak exists because charging slows as the pack fills.

The voltage question above is the real constraint, not the kilowatts.

Charging at Home

Home charging is alternating current, so none of the voltage trouble applies.

The standard on-board charger takes 11 kilowatts, which fills the battery in roughly six hours allowing for losses.

A 22 kilowatt option brings that down to about three hours, where the supply allows it.

Then there is the part that catches people out. What that electricity costs depends on your billing slab, not just the units used.

Adding a car can move a household onto a dearer schedule entirely. That changes the sums considerably.

What to Confirm Before Buying

Start with the chargers. Ask which DC stations in Pakistan this car will actually accept, and get it in writing.

Then the price, including what is and is not inside the figure you are quoted.

Ask which WLTP figure the car you are buying carries, since the answer depends on its wheels and equipment.

Check whether the 22 kilowatt on-board charger is fitted, because it halves your home charging time.

Confirm the battery warranty separately from the car. Ask what counts as acceptable capacity loss.

The car did win European Car of the Year 2026, announced back in January. That says the engineering is well regarded. It says nothing about how it will charge on your street.

Final Thoughts

The CLA 200 is a serious piece of engineering, and an award-winning one. Its LFP battery hands you nearly all of its nameplate, it charges quickly for its size, and 224 PS in a rear-driven saloon is plenty.

But at this money the specification sheet is not the risk. Confirm the price with the distributor, and settle the 800-volt charging question before anything else. A car that cannot use the chargers near you is an expensive way to learn about voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mercedes CLA 200 price in Pakistan?

Figures of PKR 26.48 million and PKR 26.2 million are both in circulation, the first from a dealer advertisement in late September 2026. No official price page was reachable to settle which stands. Confirm with the authorised distributor before booking.

Is the CLA 200 fully electric?

Yes. The version with EQ Technology is a battery electric four-door coupe with no petrol engine. Worth saying because CLA 200 was a petrol badge for years, so the name no longer tells you what powers the car.

Will it charge at any DC fast charger in Pakistan?

That is the question to settle first. The car uses an 800-volt system, and European reporting says it cannot use 400-volt DC stations at all because no voltage booster is fitted. We could not confirm this with Mercedes, so ask the distributor in writing.

How much power does it make?

The motor is rated 165 kilowatts, which is 224 PS on the metric scale and about 221 in mechanical horsepower. Many listings print 224 hp, mixing the two scales. Torque is 335 Nm and drive goes to the rear wheels.

What battery does it use?

A lithium iron phosphate pack with 58 kWh usable from a nominal 60 kWh. That small buffer leaves you nearly 97 percent of the nameplate, and LFP chemistry also means charging to 100 percent is fine routinely.

What is its range?

Between 514 and 541 kilometres on WLTP, depending on wheels and equipment. There is no single figure, so ask which applies to the exact car. WLTP is also a laboratory cycle rather than a guarantee, and heat and air conditioning both reduce it.

How quickly does it charge?

Up to 200 kilowatts, with 10 to 80 percent quoted near 20 minutes. That works out at roughly 122 kilowatts average, so a 120 kilowatt charger is nearly as quick. The peak matters less than whether the station is compatible.

How long does home charging take?

Around six hours on the standard 11 kilowatt on-board charger, allowing for losses. An optional 22 kilowatt unit cuts that to roughly three hours where the supply allows. Check which one your car has.

What will charging cost at home?

More than the unit rate suggests, potentially. Domestic electricity is slabbed here, so the extra consumption can push a household onto a dearer schedule and reprice the whole bill. Work it out from your own bill before assuming savings.

Has it won any awards?

The Mercedes-Benz CLA was named European Car of the Year 2026, announced in January. That is a genuine endorsement of the car's engineering, though it is now some months old rather than fresh news.
