McLaren Racing has put five Formula 1 cars from its own heritage collection on the market, and the list reads like a history of the team. These McLaren F1 cars for sale span 32 years, from the 1991 title-winning season to 2023, and they link to Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Lando Norris. One of them was also driven by Brad Pitt while he prepared for F1: The Movie. Specialist dealer Tom Hartley Jnr is handling the sale, which was announced on 19 October 2026.

Details as announced by McLaren Racing and Tom Hartley Jnr.
The two 1991 cars are powered by Honda V12 engines. Chassis #04 finished second in a McLaren one-two at the San Marino Grand Prix, and chassis #07 finished second at the British Grand Prix. Senna tested both cars during the season in which he won his third world title, but Berger was the one who raced them.
The 2021 MCL35M took Norris to the podium at Imola, Monaco and Monza, and it wore the Gulf livery at Monaco. The 2023 MCL37A is the newest car in the group and is described as the most modern F1 car ever offered to a private owner. Every car has stayed with McLaren since it last raced.
How Much Could These Cars Cost?
No asking price has been published for any of the five cars. Reports put the expected value at between 5 million and 10 million per car, although outlets differ on the currency, with some quoting pounds and Reuters-based reports quoting US dollars. Treat that as an estimate, not a price list.
There is a useful benchmark. In 2021 a McLaren raced by Lewis Hamilton to victory in Turkey in 2010 sold for about £4.8 million. The cars are not going to auction. They are being offered privately and one at a time.
The McLaren Driven by Brad Pitt
After its racing career ended, the 2023 MCL37A became part of McLaren's testing programme. Drivers who sat in it include Oscar Piastri and Mick Schumacher. In June 2025 Brad Pitt drove it in a private test at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas, as part of his preparation for F1: The Movie, and reportedly reached about 197 mph (317 km/h). That Hollywood chapter is what makes this chassis the headline car of the sale.
Why Is McLaren Selling Its Historic F1 Cars?
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown said leaving the cars in storage does them a disservice. The team's view is that they were built to be driven and should be seen in use. Tom Hartley Jnr, who previously sold Bernie Ecclestone's grand prix collection, says there is no time pressure on the sale, and that is why this is not a rushed sale.
Can a Private Owner Actually Drive One?
These are not road cars. The cars are offered in running order with continued support from McLaren, and the older ones are to be restored before delivery. Running a Formula 1 car still takes a suitable circuit, specialist engineers and a serious maintenance budget. For more car stories like this one, explore more car news and guides on our blog.
Final Thoughts
These McLaren F1 cars for sale are rare because they come straight from the team that built and raced them. Five cars, 32 years and names from Senna to Norris to Pitt make this one of the most notable sales of the year. Serious buyers should contact Tom Hartley Jnr directly, because Asad Autos is not involved in the sale.
