Hyundai Elantra N Monochrome: Dark Style, Forged Wheels

Hyundai revealed the Hyundai Elantra N Monochrome on 19 October 2026, a deliberately quieter version of its performance sedan with forged wheels, Alcantara cabin details and two trims.

It is a styling and materials edition rather than a faster car, and Hyundai has been careful about what it did and did not claim. Here is exactly what the company announced.

What Hyundai Actually Announced

The official release describes a monochromatic exterior theme with body-colour details, newly designed forged wheels, and a performance-focused interior treatment.

It also carries Hyundai's own caution, which is worth reading before anything else. Availability, specifications, pricing and production volumes “may vary by market”.

That line matters. Everything below is the global announcement, not a specification sheet for any one country, and Hyundai says so itself.

One Car, Three Different Names

This trips up almost everyone researching the car, so it is worth getting straight early.

Market Sold as
Global and Canada Elantra N Monochrome
Korea Avante N Monochrome
Australia i30 N Sedan Monochrome

Same car, three badges. If you search for “Elantra N Monochrome Australia” you will find very little, because Australia does not use that name.

Exterior: Forged Wheels and Darkened Details

The headline hardware change is a set of newly designed forged wheels. Hyundai gives no size and no design name for them, so hold off on assumptions until local specifications appear.

Beyond the wheels, Hyundai lists revised details across the front and rear bumpers, the side sills, the brake calipers and the rear diffuser, all coordinated into the monochromatic theme.

Two paint choices are named: Abyss Black Pearl and Performance Blue, both subject to availability in each market. Performance Blue is the colour most associated with Hyundai's N cars, so its inclusion keeps a link to the range even on the restrained edition.

The Alcantara Interior

The cabin detail Hyundai specifies most clearly is a Monochrome-only Alcantara steering wheel with its buttons finished in black. That steering wheel is exclusive to this edition.

Alcantara also appears on selected interior components, but Hyundai does not say which ones. That is a meaningful gap if you care about where the material actually is, and it is the first thing to check on a local equipment list rather than guessing from press photographs.

How It Differs From the Standard Elantra N

The standard Elantra N is a deliberately loud-looking car. Contrast trim, visible red accents and a prominent wing are part of the point, and they are why some buyers who want the way it drives do not want the way it looks.

The Monochrome answers that specific objection. Rather than adding anything, it removes visual contrast: the details that normally stand out against the body are brought into the same tonal family, and the wheels are redrawn rather than simply painted darker.

That is a narrower change than “blacked-out” editions usually are. Hyundai is not covering the car in gloss black and calling it a special; it is re-coordinating existing elements, which is also why the one genuinely new hardware item is the forged wheel design.

A Word on Living With Alcantara

Worth knowing before anyone treats an Alcantara wheel as an automatic upgrade, because it behaves nothing like leather.

It grips better with gloves or dry hands, which is the reason performance cars use it. It also absorbs hand oils, and the areas you touch most will mat and darken over time. On a steering wheel that means the two spots where your hands sit.

It needs brushing and a dedicated suede-safe cleaner rather than a leather conditioner, which will clog the fibres. In a hot climate that matters more, not less, because perspiration is exactly what causes the matting.

None of this is a reason to avoid it. It does mean a car with Alcantara needs a different cleaning routine from the one most owners already have.

Basic Trim vs Upper Trim

Two trims were announced, and the difference between them is narrower than the names suggest.

Trim What Hyundai lists
Basic Trim Black-themed design and Alcantara interior materials
Upper Trim Adds a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and carbon-fiber mirrors

Hyundai describes the Upper Trim's parts as additional, which implies it carries the Basic Trim's content too, though the release does not spell that out.

So the step up is essentially two carbon-fibre exterior items. Whether that is worth the difference depends on a price neither trim has yet, and on which trims a given market actually imports — plenty of editions arrive in one trim only.

Does It Get More Power?

Hyundai's release makes no statement about engine output at all. Not that it is unchanged, not that it is higher — the subject simply does not appear.

Reporting around the reveal puts the Elantra N at 280 PS (276 hp) and 392 Nm, with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch gearbox, and N Grin Shift briefly lifting the automatic car to 290 PS (286 hp). The same reporting says the Monochrome brings no powertrain or suspension changes.

Treat that as reporting rather than confirmation. Because the release carries no market-by-market specification table, the honest position is that Hyundai has announced no performance change, and the figures for your own market need checking against a local brochure.

Price and Availability

No price has been announced for any market. Hyundai says market-specific sales information will follow separately.

Korea comes first, with sales planned for late October 2026; reporting puts the on-sale date at 29 October. Canada and Australia are named as planned launches, with no timing given for either, and Hyundai says it intends to expand to further markets.

One market that is not confirmed is the United States. Hyundai has said nothing about US availability, which is worth knowing if you follow American coverage, because US-market specifications and pricing for this edition do not exist yet.

Is the Hyundai Elantra N Monochrome Coming to Pakistan?

Pakistan is not among the markets named in Hyundai's announcement, and no local launch has been confirmed. We are not going to read that as a refusal, only as an absence — the release names three markets and says others will follow, without listing them.

What is realistic is that N editions are built in small volumes for selected markets, so a limited styling edition is not the sort of car that usually reaches a market where the base model is assembled locally to a different specification.

If you are shopping in this segment here rather than following the reveal, the comparison that matters is between what is actually sold, from the facelifted Corolla Altis upward, and the rivals arriving elsewhere in the segment such as the Kia K4 hybrid.

Final Thoughts

The Monochrome is an honest piece of product planning: forged wheels, darkened detailing, an exclusive Alcantara steering wheel and two carbon-fibre parts on the upper trim, aimed at buyers who want the Elantra N without announcing it to the street.

What Hyundai has not given is a price, an output figure, or a list of which interior parts get the Alcantara. Until local specifications appear, the safest assumption is the one Hyundai itself printed: specifications and availability may vary by market.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Hyundai Elantra N Monochrome

What is the Elantra N Monochrome?▾
A styling and materials edition of Hyundai's performance saloon, shown on 19 October 2026. It pairs a single-tone exterior treatment with freshly drawn forged rims, reworked detailing around the bumpers, sills, calipers and diffuser, and suede-like trim inside, including a wheel unique to this version.
Why does it have different names in different countries?▾
Because the saloon it is based on already does. Koreans know the car as the Avante, Australians buy it badged within the i30 family as a four-door, and most other regions use the Elantra name. One vehicle, three identities, which makes searching for owner impressions unexpectedly awkward.
What separates the Basic and Upper trims?▾
Two carbon-fibre items, going by the announcement: a rear wing and the mirror housings, both exclusive to the dearer version. The entry specification brings the dark cosmetic package and the suede cabin trim. Since no figures have been published for either, the premium for those parts is unknown.
Is it faster than the standard car?▾
Hyundai's announcement is silent on the subject, mentioning neither a gain nor parity. Press coverage quotes the familiar 280 PS and 392 Nm for this model, with a short overboost to 290 PS on twin-clutch examples, and reports no mechanical revisions here. Since no regional specification sheets accompanied the reveal, verify locally rather than assuming.
Which paint colours were announced?▾
Abyss Black Pearl and Performance Blue, with the proviso that each region decides what it stocks. The blue is the shade long associated with the brand's hot models, so even this deliberately understated version keeps a visible tie to the rest of the family.
When does it go on sale, and where?▾
Korea leads, during the closing days of October 2026, with coverage pointing to the 29th specifically. Canada and Australia are both slated to receive it, though no dates accompany either, and further regions are promised without being identified. America remains an open question, as Hyundai has issued no word on it.
Will it be sold in Pakistan?▾
It is not on the list of launch regions, and nothing local has been declared. That absence is not a denial, since the manufacturer says more territories will follow without naming them. Realistically though, low-volume cosmetic editions of performance models rarely travel to markets where the ordinary version is put together locally in a different form.
