Ford Ranger MS-RT Champion Edition 2026: Rally-Inspired Design & Features

The Ford Ranger MS-RT Champion Edition has been revealed at the 2026 Paris Motor Show: black only, gold twin racing stripes, 21-inch gold alloys and a suspension sitting 40 mm lower than a standard Ranger.

It is open to order now, with deliveries starting in spring 2027. Ford has not announced pricing, and has not said how many will be built.

Two details explain why a special edition like this exists at all: every truck carries a numbered dashboard plaque, and each one is hand-finished by MS-RT in the UK.

Ford Ranger MS-RT Champion Edition: Key Features

MS-RT is not a trim level Ford invented in-house. It is a vehicle design specialist — in Ford's own words, "a Qualified Vehicle Modifier working with established Ford motorsport partner M-Sport" — which applies World Rally Championship-winning experience to Ford's commercial vehicles.

That is the thread running through this truck. The Champion Edition is a rally-inspired pickup built by the people who prepare Ford's rally cars, which is a different pedigree from a styling pack designed by a marketing department.

What makes this version a Champion Edition rather than a standard MS-RT is the gold treatment, the numbered plaque and the hand-finishing — not a mechanical change to the powertrain.

Exterior Design and Gold Wheels

It comes in black, and only black. Ford's reveal material does not name the particular shade, so we are not putting a colour name to it.

Over that go twin racing stripes across the bumper, bonnet and tailgate, edged in gold, with 21-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels finished in gold to match. Wider arches, side skirts and unique bumpers complete it.

The rear deserves precision, because it is being described loosely elsewhere. This is a twin rear spoiler arrangement, which Ford likens to the whale-tail wings of the Sierra RS500 and Escort Cosworth. It is not a ducktail — a different shape entirely, and anyone who grew up with those cars will spot the difference.

That wide-arch and side-skirt look is a category in its own right, and it is the part of this truck that translates to cars people actually drive here — body kits, arch extensions and skirts are among the most requested styling work we do.

Interior Features and Technology

The cabin gets heated, heavily bolstered MS-RT front seats and gold stitching throughout — the Champion Edition's own thread colour, not the standard MS-RT's.

The steering wheel has a heated rim wrapped in perforated eco-leather, also with gold stitching. Infotainment is a 12-inch touchscreen running SYNC 4, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus ambient lighting and dual-zone automatic climate control.

And the numbered dashboard plaque, which is the detail that tells you this is a limited run rather than an options box. Ford has not said how many will carry one.

Ford Ranger MS-RT Champion Edition Specs and Engines

Specification 3.0 V6 diesel 2.3 EcoBoost PHEV
Engine 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol plus electric motor
Output 240 281 combined
Electric motor Not applicable 120
Electric range Not applicable Up to 26 miles, WLTP
Braked towing Up to 3.5 tonnes Up to 3.5 tonnes
Payload Up to a tonne Up to a tonne
Torque Not published Not published

One honest caveat on those output figures. Coverage of the reveal quotes 240 and 281 as horsepower; the specification notes circulating alongside it quote the same numbers as PS. Those are different units — one PS is about 0.986 hp — so the same figure cannot be both.

Rather than pick one and be wrong, we have printed the numbers without a unit until Ford's own specification line settles it. The difference is small in practice, but a figure with the wrong unit attached is still a wrong figure.

Suspension, Handling and Towing Capacity

The chassis work is where the MS-RT idea earns its name. The truck sits 40 mm lower than standard Ranger models, with firmer front dampers and retuned rear suspension.

That is a road-biased setup, and it is the opposite of what an off-road special would do. A lower, firmer pickup turns better and rides flatter on tarmac at the cost of ground clearance and wheel travel.

Worth correcting a figure doing the rounds: Ford publishes no track-width change for this truck. It states a 40 mm drop in ride height and wider arches. Those are two different things, and neither is a track measurement, so any "80 mm wider track" claim you see is unsupported.

Despite the styling, it stays a working pickup. Braked towing is up to 3.5 tonnes and payload up to a tonne — the Ranger's full capability, not a cut-down version of it.

Ford Ranger MS-RT vs Ranger Raptor

This comparison is usually argued rather than answered, but Ford has settled it. Its own release states that the Ranger MS-RT "sits alongside the Ranger Raptor at the top of the range".

They are siblings, not rivals. The Raptor is the off-road flagship, with long-travel suspension and more ground clearance. The MS-RT is the road flagship, sitting lower and firmer with the styling to match.

So the choice is not which is better but which surface you care about. A buyer who wants dunes and corrugations wants the Raptor; a buyer who wants a pickup that feels sharp on tarmac and looks like a rally support vehicle wants this.

How Far the MS-RT Has Come Since 2021

The Ranger MS-RT is not new — Ford launched the original for summer 2021, derived from the Wildtrak. Lining the two up shows how much the recipe has moved.

Item Original MS-RT, 2021 Champion Edition, 2026
Engine 2.0 EcoBlue bi-turbo diesel, 213 PS / 500 Nm 3.0 V6 diesel at 240, or 2.3 PHEV at 281
Wheels 20-inch OZ Racing 21-inch diamond-cut, gold
Infotainment SYNC 3, 8-inch screen SYNC 4, 12-inch screen
Stitching Contrast orange Gold
Towing 3,500 kg Up to 3.5 tonnes

The 2021 figures are from Ford's own media release on that car. The towing rating has not moved in five years, which tells you the MS-RT treatment has always been about how the truck drives and looks rather than what it can pull.

Price, Availability and Pakistan

Orders are open now and deliveries begin in spring 2027. Ford has not published a price for the Champion Edition, so there is no figure to quote and we are not inventing one.

Nor has Ford said how many will be built, beyond describing the run as limited.

For Pakistan the answer is simpler: nothing has been announced. No local launch, no price, no timeline. This is a European special edition of a pickup Ford does not currently offer here, and a limited run makes a local introduction less likely rather than more.

Not listed for Pakistan is not the same as ruled out — but on this one, do not expect an announcement.

Final Verdict

The Ford Ranger MS-RT Champion Edition is the most committed version yet of a genuinely odd idea: a pickup tuned for tarmac by the company that prepares Ford's rally cars, 40 mm lower than standard, in black and gold, with a numbered plaque and hand-finishing.

What is confirmed: 240 from the V6 diesel or 281 from the PHEV, 26 miles of WLTP electric range, 3.5 tonnes of braked towing, a tonne of payload, orders open and deliveries from spring 2027.

What is not: the price, the run size, the paint name, and any track-width change — whatever you read elsewhere about 80 mm.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Ford Ranger MS-RT Champion Edition?▾
A limited special edition of the Ranger MS-RT, revealed at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. It is black only, with twin gold-edged racing stripes, 21-inch gold alloys, gold interior stitching, a numbered dashboard plaque and hand-finishing by MS-RT in the UK. MS-RT is a vehicle design specialist that works with Ford's motorsport partner M-Sport, so the styling comes from the rally side of the business rather than from a trim catalogue.
What engines are available in the Champion Edition?▾
Two. A 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel rated at 240, and a plug-in hybrid pairing a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with a 120 electric motor for a combined 281, offering up to 26 miles of electric range on WLTP. Coverage quotes those outputs inconsistently as hp in some places and PS in others, which are different units, so treat the figures as the numbers and check Ford's own specification for the unit.
What is the towing capacity of the Ranger MS-RT Champion Edition?▾
Up to 3.5 tonnes braked, with payload up to a tonne — the standard Ranger's full capability, retained despite the lowered, road-focused setup. As with any pickup, the headline towing figure depends on configuration and how the vehicle is loaded, so check the combined mass limits for the exact specification.
How much lower is the MS-RT suspension?▾
It sits 40 mm lower than standard Ranger models, with firmer front dampers and retuned rear suspension. Ford also fits wider arches, but publishes no track-width figure — so claims of an 80 mm wider track are unsupported. A ride-height change and a bodywork change are not the same measurement.
When will deliveries begin, and what does it cost?▾
It is open to order now, with deliveries starting in spring 2027. Ford has not announced pricing and has not said how many will be built, describing the run only as limited. Any price you see quoted is not from Ford.
How does the MS-RT compare with the Ranger Raptor?▾
Ford's own position is that the Ranger MS-RT sits alongside the Ranger Raptor at the top of the range, so they are siblings rather than rivals. The Raptor is built for off-road, with long-travel suspension and more ground clearance. The MS-RT is built for the road, sitting 40 mm lower on firmer damping. The right one depends entirely on which surface you drive.
Will the Champion Edition launch in Pakistan?▾
Nothing has been announced — no local launch, no price and no timeline. This is a European special edition of a pickup not currently offered here, and a limited production run makes a local introduction less likely rather than more. Not listed for Pakistan is not the same as ruled out, but an announcement should not be expected on this one.
