5 Discontinued Cars in Pakistan: Picanto, BR-V, MG HS & More
Five familiar names changed status in Pakistan's new-car market this year. But "discontinued" does not mean the same thing in all five cases and if you own one of these cars, the difference matters.
Here is the quick version before the detail.
| Car | What happened | Nameplate |
|---|---|---|
| Kia Picanto | Local run ended | Gone locally |
| Honda BR-V | Production ended | No replacement announced |
| MG HS | Old generation replaced | Continues |
| MG ZS | Old generation replaced | Continues |
| Cultus VXR / AGS | Bookings reportedly stopped | Continues |
Three of the five are still on sale in some form.
What "Discontinued" Actually Means
The word gets used for four quite different situations, and headlines rarely separate them.
A model leaves the market. The car is no longer sold new here at all.
Production ends. Manufacturing stops, though stock may remain for a while.
A generation is replaced. The old version stops; a new version of the same car takes over. The nameplate is very much alive.
A variant is dropped. One trim goes; the model continues. This is the one most often reported as if the whole car had died.
Kia Picanto
The Picanto's local production run has ended after roughly six years — covered in detail in our report on the Kia Picanto discontinued in Pakistan.
This is the most complete of the five exits: the small hatchback segment it competed in has thinned considerably as buyers moved up to crossovers. Whether Kia returns with a successor has not been announced — check Kia Pakistan for the current lineup.
Honda BR-V
Honda Atlas has ended BR-V production, with a company executive citing completion of the model's lifecycle. Recent volumes were reported at roughly 25 to 50 units a month around 300 to 600 cars a year, which is difficult to sustain for a locally assembled model.
No replacement has been announced, which leaves Honda without a seven-seater in Pakistan. Our full report on the Honda BR-V discontinued in Pakistan covers what it means for owners; the current range is on Honda Pakistan's site.
MG HS and MG ZS: Not What the Headlines Suggest
Both the MG HS and MG ZS appear on discontinuation lists, and in both cases what actually ended was the previous generation. New-generation versions have taken over, and both nameplates remain on sale.
This is ordinary product-cycle renewal rather than a withdrawal. Every manufacturer does it; it only looks dramatic when written up as a discontinuation.
If you own a first-generation HS or ZS, your car is a previous-generation model, not an orphaned one — the brand and its service network are still here. Current models are listed on MG Motors Pakistan.
Suzuki Cultus VXR and AGS
Bookings for the VXR and AGS variants have reportedly been discontinued. Two points matter here.
First, this is a variant change, not the end of the Cultus the nameplate continues. Second, it has been reported rather than confirmed by Suzuki in the material available to us.
Before acting on it either way, check current availability on Suzuki Pakistan's Cultus page or with a dealership.
Why So Many Changes at Once?
Pakistan's market has been reshaped quickly. A wave of new entrants has arrived see our coverage of new cars in Pakistan 2026 and the Pakistan auto market in 2026 while buyer preferences have shifted from small hatchbacks toward crossovers and hybrids.
Volumes decide the rest. A locally assembled model needs scale to justify its production line and parts inventory, and models that fall below that threshold eventually go, as our look at Pakistan car sales in 2026 shows. Policy uncertainty adds to it the pending Pakistan Auto Policy 2026-31 affects what manufacturers commit to next.
If You Own One of These Cars
Nothing changes today. Your car, its warranty and its servicing are unaffected by a production decision.
Ask your dealer about parts support rather than assuming. Manufacturers usually continue supplying parts for discontinued models for years, but "usually" is not a commitment, and it is a fair question to put directly.
On resale, be sceptical of confident predictions. Discontinued models can hold value where demand and parts supply stay steady, or soften where buyers worry about support. Anyone telling you precisely which way a specific car will go is guessing.
Should You Buy a Discontinued Car?
Often, yes — with eyes open. Run-out stock and used examples can be good value precisely because the model is leaving, and a car that sold in reasonable numbers over several years tends to have a healthy parts ecosystem behind it.
The sensible checks are simple: ask a workshop about parts availability for that specific model, confirm what warranty remains, and do not pay a price that assumes the car is still current. A previous-generation MG, where the brand and network remain fully present, is a different proposition from a model whose maker has exited the segment entirely.
Final Thoughts
Of these discontinued cars in Pakistan, only the Kia Picanto and Honda BR-V have genuinely left the new-car market. The MG HS and ZS have simply moved to new generations, and the Cultus continues with a reported change to two variants. Read the detail before worrying and if you own any of them, the one question worth asking your dealer is about parts.
