BYD Atto 8 Unveiled at Paris Motor Show 2026: 653 km Range & 9-Minute Charging

Seven seats, 653 km of WLTP range and a nine-minute charging claim. That is what BYD took to the 2026 Paris Motor Show, in the shape of a fully electric flagship SUV called the BYD Atto 8.

The Chinese manufacturer's new seven-seater draws that range from a 115 kWh battery, and it is the first BYD sold in Europe to carry the company's FLASH Charging system quoted at 10% to 97% in nine minutes.

This electric SUV reaches European markets in the first quarter of 2027. Nothing has been said about Pakistan.

The nine-minute figure is the headline, but two numbers further down BYD's own announcement tell you more about living with this car.

BYD Atto 8 Specifications at a Glance

Two versions have been announced: the rear-wheel-drive Design and the all-wheel-drive Excellence. Both get the same battery.

Item Design (RWD) Excellence (AWD)
WLTP range 653 km 602 km
Battery 115 kWh Blade 115 kWh Blade
Power 340 kW 570 kW
Torque 365 Nm 775 Nm
0–100 km/h 8.0 sec 4.6 sec
Seats Seven Seven
Length 5,040 mm 5,040 mm
Price Not announced Not announced

All figures from BYD's own press material. BYD's UK release quotes the same ranges as 405 and 374 miles — those are the imperial equivalents, not different claims.

Range and the 115 kWh Blade Battery

Both versions carry the same 115 kWh second-generation Blade Battery, so the 51 km difference between them comes from the extra front motor on the all-wheel-drive version rather than from a smaller pack.

These are WLTP combined figures, which is the stricter of the common test cycles — a useful detail, because manufacturers often quote the more generous CLTC or NEDC numbers.

Both numbers come straight from BYD's European press announcement, which states them natively in kilometres. BYD does not state the battery's chemistry anywhere, so we are not labelling it.

What the 9-Minute Charging Claim Actually Says

It is not a full charge, and the detail matters. BYD's FLASH Charging claims are 10% to 97% in nine minutes, and 10% to 70% in five minutes.

That five-minute figure is arguably the more useful one, because 70% is the sort of top-up most people take on a journey rather than sitting for the last third.

BYD also published a cold-weather figure, which manufacturers rarely do: 20% to 97% in 12 minutes at minus 30 degrees Celsius. Irrelevant to Multan, but it tells you the thermal management is being claimed seriously rather than only in ideal conditions.

Two caveats. BYD does not state the charger power in kilowatts for any of these figures. And the times depend on FLASH Charging infrastructure — BYD says it plans 3,000 such stations across Europe by the end of 2027, which means the nine minutes describes a network still being built.

RWD vs AWD: Power and Performance

The gap between the two versions is much wider than the power figures suggest on their own. The rear-drive Design has a single rear motor making 340 kW and 365 Nm, good for 8.0 seconds to 100 km/h.

Adding a front motor takes the Excellence to a system output of 570 kW and 775 Nm — more than double the torque — and 4.6 seconds.

So the choice is not a mild trim upgrade. It is eight seconds against four and a half, at the cost of 51 km of range. BYD does not break out the individual motor outputs for the all-wheel-drive version.

Seven Seats — and the Boot Problem

This is the number families should look at hardest. With all three rows in use, the boot is 270 litres.

For a car over five metres long, that is modest — it is roughly hatchback territory, and it is the honest trade-off behind every three-row SUV. Seven people and their luggage do not both fit.

Fold the middle and rear rows and it opens to 1,960 litres, and BYD's own figures add a 136-litre frunk under the bonnet for the charging cables. Useful, but it does not solve the seven-up problem.

Inside

BYD lists heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, with the outer middle-row seats matching, and genuine leather throughout on both versions.

There is a 15.6-inch central touchscreen with Google built-in, a 26-inch head-up display, a 10.25-inch instrument panel, a 2.39 square metre panoramic roof, tri-zone climate control, and a front refrigerator that cools to minus 6 or warms to 50 degrees.

It Is a Very Big Car

At 5,040 mm long, 1,996 mm wide and 1,760 mm tall, the Atto 8 is over five metres. That is worth picturing on a Pakistani street, in a basement car park or outside a shop in an old city area before any of the rest of this matters. BYD has not published a wheelbase or kerb weight.

BYD Atto 8 Price in Pakistan and Availability

There is no Pakistan price, because there is no Pakistan announcement. BYD's Paris Motor Show material covers European markets with dealer sales starting in Q1 2027, and does not publish a price for any market at all.

We are not going to estimate one. A car with no announced price anywhere cannot have a credible expected price here.

There is also a practical point worth making plainly: the nine-minute charging claim depends on FLASH Charging hardware. Even in Europe that network is a 2027 target, so on current Pakistani charging infrastructure that headline figure would be theoretical regardless of whether the car arrived.

What BYD Does Sell Here

BYD's Pakistan lineup is well established, and we stock accessories for several of its models — you can browse BYD car accessories in Pakistan by model, and the BYD Atto 3 accessories range runs to over 120 listings.

To be clear: those are for the Atto 3, a different and much smaller car. Nothing is confirmed to fit an Atto 8.

Final Verdict

On BYD's own numbers the Atto 8 is a serious flagship: 653 km on the stricter WLTP cycle, 570 kW and 4.6 seconds in all-wheel-drive form, and charging claims that would embarrass most of the market.

Three things to hold onto. Nine minutes means 10% to 97% on infrastructure BYD is still building. The boot is 270 litres with seven people aboard. And at over five metres, this is a big car for the roads most of us actually use.

Every figure here is BYD's own, checked against its announcements on 13 October 2026. Nothing has been estimated, and no price exists to quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the range of the BYD Atto 8?▾
BYD states up to 653 km WLTP combined for the rear-wheel-drive Design and 602 km for the all-wheel-drive Excellence, from the same 115 kWh battery. BYD's UK release quotes these as 405 and 374 miles — the same figures in imperial units. Real-world range depends on speed, temperature, load and climate control use.
Does the BYD Atto 8 really charge in nine minutes?▾
BYD claims 10% to 97% in nine minutes, and 10% to 70% in five minutes, using FLASH Charging infrastructure. That is not a full charge from empty, and BYD does not state the charger power in kilowatts. It also depends on a network BYD says it plans to expand to 3,000 European stations by the end of 2027, so treat it as a manufacturer claim rather than a typical everyday result.
How much luggage space does it have with seven seats up?▾
270 litres with all three rows in use, which is modest for a car over five metres long. Folding the middle and rear rows opens it to 1,960 litres, and there is a 136-litre front compartment. If you regularly carry seven people and their bags, this is the figure to check before anything else.
What is the difference between the RWD and AWD versions?▾
The rear-drive Design has one rear motor with 340 kW and 365 Nm and does 0–100 km/h in 8.0 seconds. The all-wheel-drive Excellence adds a front motor for a 570 kW system output, 775 Nm and 4.6 seconds, but its WLTP range drops from 653 km to 602 km. Both use the same 115 kWh battery.
What is the BYD Atto 8 price in Pakistan?▾
There is none, and there is no Pakistan announcement. BYD has not published a price for the Atto 8 in any market, including Europe, so no credible expected Pakistan price exists. We are not publishing an estimate.
When does the BYD Atto 8 launch?▾
BYD says it arrives in European markets, with dealer sales, in the first quarter of 2027. It was shown at the Paris Motor Show, with BYD's announcement dated 12 October 2026. No launch has been announced for Pakistan or any other market outside Europe.
