The 330 and 330 xDrive use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 48V mild-hybrid assistance producing 255 hp. A mild hybrid is not a hybrid you plug in or drive on electricity the 48V system smooths the stop-start, assists briefly under load and recovers energy when slowing.
Above it, the M350 xDrive keeps a 3.0-litre inline-six with 437 hp and 428 lb-ft (about 580 Nm), reaching 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. In a market where six-cylinder engines are steadily disappearing, its survival is the notable part.
Electric: The BMW i3
The i3 50 xDrive is the electric member of the family: 463 hp, dual-motor all-wheel drive, an 800V architecture and charging at up to 400 kW.
BMW estimates range at up to 468 miles (about 753 km) on the US test cycle, which is not WLTP and not real-world driving. Expect a lower number in practice, and a different one in any market that uses WLTP.
