Hyundai has revealed the fifth-generation Tucson. The 2027 Hyundai Tucson is bigger in every direction, looks noticeably squarer, and brings a redesigned cabin along with hybrid and plug-in hybrid power.
Here is what has been confirmed, what is still a target, and what has not been announced at all.
What's New
The headline changes: a new Art of Steel design direction, a larger body on a longer wheelbase, a completely reworked interior with Hyundai's Pleos infotainment, an updated 1.6L turbo hybrid, a plug-in hybrid version, and a rugged XRT trim.
In short, this is a full generational change rather than a facelift which makes it a meaningful step on from the current car we covered as the Hyundai Tucson N-Line 2026.

The 30 mm of extra wheelbase is the number that matters most inside. Wheelbase is the distance between the front and rear axles, and it translates fairly directly into rear legroom. Combined with the extra height and width, the new Tucson should feel more comfortable for three across the back the thing families actually notice.
Exterior: The Art of Steel Look
The new styling direction moves away from the current car's sharp, creased surfaces toward something boxier and more upright: straighter body sides, a more vertical stance, a redesigned front end and H-shaped lighting. New exterior colours accompany the change. It is a more solid, less fussy look closer to how a mid-size SUV is expected to stand.
2027 Hyundai Tucson XRT
The XRT is the rugged-look version: its own grille, black exterior detailing, wheel-arch cladding, black wheels, a dedicated rear bumper, a skid plate and XRT badging. Inside it gets specific seats with orange stitching and dark-metal trim.
On the information available, these changes are primarily about styling. No off-road hardware upgrades have been detailed, so do not assume greater capability than the standard car until Hyundai says otherwise.
Interior and Technology
The dashboard is now more horizontal, which visually widens the cabin, and the centrepiece is a large vertically oriented screen running Hyundai's Pleos infotainment system.
Other changes: a squared-off two-spoke steering wheel, a floating centre console that opens up the space beneath it, and horizontal ambient lighting across the cabin.
Buyers get four interior colour combinations, with wood trim on higher trims.
Hybrid and PHEV
The updated 1.6L turbo hybrid is confirmed as the core global powertrain the version most markets will build their lineup around.
A plug-in hybrid joins it, targeting approximately 100 km of electric range. Read that word carefully: it is a target at this stage, not a certified or real-world figure, and the final number could land differently.
Battery capacity, charging specifications and final power outputs have not been announced for the PHEV. Those are the figures that will decide how usable it really is, so they are worth waiting for. Launch Timeline and Price
The Tucson and Tucson Hybrid reach initial markets in Q4 2026, with South Korea expected among the first. Wider international rollout follows in 2027, though exact dates for most markets have not been given.
Price: not announced. Hyundai did not release pricing at the global reveal.
