The two fuels moving in opposite directions in the same revision is the notable part of this update. For where rates stood before, see our coverage of the latest petrol price in Pakistan.

Petrol Falls, Diesel Gets More Expensive
The petrol reduction of 43 paisa is small enough that most drivers will not notice it roughly Rs. 17 on a 40-litre fill.
The diesel increase is the one that counts. Rs. 3.47 per litre feeds into freight, public transport and agricultural machinery costs, so it tends to reach household budgets indirectly through goods and fares rather than at the pump.
Petrol and high-speed diesel are priced against separate international benchmarks, which is why the two can move in opposite directions in the same revision. OGRA calculates the applicable rates, and revised prices take effect through official notification.
When Do the New Fuel Prices Apply?
The revised rates are effective from 18 September 2026. If you are eligible for fuel relief, our coverage of the Pakistan petrol subsidy covers the Rs. 100 per litre scheme for bikes and small cars, which applies on top of these rates.
Final Thoughts
The petrol price in Pakistan today is Rs. 390.79 and high-speed diesel is Rs. 424.92, effective 18 September 2026. Petrol's 43-paisa cut is marginal; diesel's Rs. 3.47 rise is the change worth watching, since it works its way into transport and goods costs. Our previous petrol and diesel price update shows how rates have been moving.
