Fuel prices in Pakistan are changing faster than ever. Here's everything you need to know about the current fuel rates and what's driving these changes.

What Changed in the Latest Revision
In the latest OGRA revision effective August 5, 2026, petrol dropped by Rs 3.39 per litre, bringing it down to Rs 328.56. High-Speed Diesel saw an even bigger cut of Rs 4.07 per litre, now priced at Rs 385.86. Both Light Diesel Oil and Kerosene Oil also decreased, offering relief across the board. However, HOBC (high octane) went up by Rs 5.00 per litre, now priced at around Rs 355.
Why Pakistan Switched to Daily Pricing
Effective July 17, 2026, OGRA began revising fuel prices every 24 hours instead of the previous fortnightly system. This shift was driven by extreme volatility in the global oil market, largely caused by ongoing tensions in the Middle East and disruptions to international oil supply. Daily pricing allows local rates to track real-time changes in international crude benchmarks and exchange rates. Prices remain unchanged on weekends and public holidays.
What Affects Fuel Prices in Pakistan
- International Crude Oil: Pakistan imports most of its fuel, so global oil prices directly impact local rates.
- USD to PKR Exchange Rate: Since oil is traded in dollars, a weaker rupee makes fuel more expensive.
- Petroleum Levy & Taxes: Government taxes make up a significant portion of the pump price.
- Import & Freight Costs: Shipping and handling charges are added to the final rate.
How Rising Fuel Prices Affect You
Even a small change in fuel prices affects millions of Pakistanis. Motorcyclists, car owners, and ride-hailing drivers feel the impact directly at the pump, while diesel changes affect transport, delivery, and food costs across the country. This is why many people are now turning to hybrids, EVs, and fuel-efficient vehicles — and why smart fuel-saving habits matter more than ever.
