BMW has unveiled the BMW iX4, a coupe-roofed electric SUV built on the Neue Klasse platform. Three variants were announced. The headline figure is up to 828 km of WLTP range on the iX4 50 xDrive, which also charges at 400 kW. The M60 xDrive is quoted at 612 hp.
Market launch is March 2027.
One thing to keep in mind as you read. BMW has published a lot of detail on the 50 xDrive and noticeably less on the other two. Every M60 figure in BMW's own release carries the footnote "All information is provisional." We have marked those throughout rather than presenting them as final.

Official BMW figures. *All M60 xDrive figures are provisional. “n/a” means BMW has not published that figure, not that the car lacks it.
BMW iX4 40 xDrive
The entry point: 374 hp, 520 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. BMW words its range as a flat statement rather than a best case — "its maximum range is 638 kilometres" — and has not published a top speed for this variant.
BMW iX4 50 xDrive
The one to pay attention to. 469 hp, 645 Nm, 4.9 seconds, 210 km/h, and up to 828 km of WLTP range. It is also the only variant for which BMW has published battery capacity and charging figures.
It gains 190 km over the 40 xDrive — nearly 30% more range — while also being the quicker car. That is unusual. Normally the longer-range version is the slower one.
BMW iX4 M60 xDrive
612 hp, 875 Nm, 3.9 seconds and 240 km/h, electronically limited. Range is quoted at up to 777 km. Every one of those numbers is provisional, so treat the M60 as sketched rather than specified.
BMW iX4 Range and Battery
BMW has published one battery figure: the iX4 50 xDrive has "a usable energy content of 108.7 kWh."
That is the usable number, not the gross one. BMW has not published gross capacity for any variant, and has published no battery capacity at all for the 40 xDrive or the M60. Anyone quoting one for those two is guessing.
Now the figure worth doing yourself. Divide 108.7 kWh by 828 km and the iX4 50 xDrive uses 13.13 kWh per 100 km. For a two-tonne-plus coupe SUV with 469 hp, that is remarkable.
For context, the most efficient car in our ranking of electric cars in Pakistan is the Hyundai IONIQ 6 at 14.91 kWh/100 km — and that is a slippery saloon, not an SUV. The iX4 50 xDrive would beat it by about 12%. That calculation is ours, done on BMW's published figures, not a BMW claim.
BMW iX4 Charging Speed and 800V Technology
For the iX4 50 xDrive, BMW quotes a peak DC rate of 400 kW, and says ten minutes of charging adds 387 km of WLTP range.
Both figures belong to that variant alone. BMW has published neither for the 40 xDrive or the M60.
What 387 km in Ten Minutes Actually Means
387 km is 47% of the car's 828 km range. Close to half a tank, in the time it takes to buy a coffee.
Work backwards and it is more impressive still. 47% of a 108.7 kWh pack is about 50.8 kWh, delivered in ten minutes — an average of roughly 305 kW across the whole session. That is 76% of the 400 kW peak, sustained rather than touched for a moment at the bottom of the curve.
A high peak is easy to advertise. Holding three quarters of it for ten minutes is the harder engineering, and it is what actually shortens a stop.
Two honest caveats. BMW's own footnote says the figure assumes the charger is supplying maximum DC power, and the range added is WLTP range, not what you would see on a hot afternoon on the motorway. Pakistan has very few chargers capable of approaching 400 kW, so this number describes the car's capability rather than any experience available here today.
The M60's Trade-Off Is Smaller Than You Would Expect
Compare the M60 with the 50 xDrive and something stands out.
The M60 adds 143 hp — about 30% more power — and 230 Nm more torque. It gives up 51 km of range to do it. That is a 6% range penalty for a 30% power gain.
On a petrol car that trade would cost far more. Electric performance variants usually share the pack and lose range mainly to weight, tyres and gearing rather than to a thirstier engine. Just remember the M60's figures are provisional, so the 6% could move.
BMW iX4 Design and Interior
The iX4 is the coupe-roofed counterpart to the iX3, the way the petrol X4 relates to the X3 — same underpinnings, sloping rear roofline, less headroom and boot height in exchange for the shape. BMW has not published boot space or exterior dimensions yet, so we are not going to quantify that trade.
Inside, it uses Panoramic iDrive and a 17.9-inch Central Display. Other screen sizes have not been confirmed, so that is the only display figure we will state.
BMW iX4 Launch Date
The 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive reach the market in March 2027, with order books opening at launch.
The M60 xDrive is the odd one. BMW says it can be ordered from January 2027 — two months before the other two launch — and arrives shortly after. So the variant with the provisional specification is the first one you can put money on. If you are ordering an M60 early, confirm the final figures with the dealer rather than relying on today's numbers.
BMW iX4 Price in Pakistan: What We Know
Nothing, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. BMW has announced no Pakistan launch, no local pricing and no import plan for the iX4. We will not publish an expected price for a car that has not been announced here.
Any figure you see circulating is someone's estimate. If the iX4 does arrive, whether privately imported or through official channels, the landed cost will be shaped by customs duty, sales tax, freight, registration and the exchange rate on the day — and those can move the final number by millions of rupees.
When BMW or a local distributor announces something, we will update this article with the actual figure.
Could the BMW iX4 Launch in Pakistan?
Possible, but not soon. BMW has an established presence here and premium EVs have found buyers, so the brand side is not the obstacle. Two things are. First, charging: a car engineered around 400 kW is wasted on infrastructure that cannot approach it, and that gap is real in Pakistan today. Second, cost: import duties on a vehicle in this class tend to decide the question before demand does. The honest read is that the iX4 is a car to watch rather than one to plan around — and nothing BMW has published mentions Pakistan. Meanwhile, for the BMWs people here actually drive, our BMW accessories cover the 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X5 and i7 with model-specific fitment rather than universal parts. Full details of the car are in BMW's official iX4 press release.
