Benelli local assembly in Pakistan is planned to begin in 2027, announced by Buraq Automobile, the brand's exclusive national distributor. The first locally assembled model has not been named, and more is expected on 2 November.
We read Buraq's own company page to separate what is official from what is being repeated. Three widely quoted details are not on it.
What Buraq Automobile Has Announced
The announcement came through a joint social media post from Buraq Automobile and Benelli. It confirmed that Benelli motorcycles are headed for local assembly here.
Buraq's chief executive, Mobeen Ahmed, had discussed CKD assembly plans before this. The 2 November date is expected to name the first model.
Worth noting where that announcement did not appear. Buraq's own website carries no Benelli local-assembly statement, no 2 November date and no model name.
That is becoming a familiar pattern across the industry. The news travels on social media while the company's own site stays unchanged.
What Buraq's Website Confirms, and What It Does Not
Plenty is officially established, and it is solid ground to stand on.
Buraq's official company profile describes it as "the exclusive national distributor for Benelli, QJ Motor and Moto Morini", based in Lahore.
It was incorporated in 2015. It began building a dedicated CKD assembly plant in 2025, and that plant is scheduled to start commercial assembly in 2027.
Now the three details that are missing from that page, and the first one is the plant itself.
Buraq's own page names no city for the plant. It says only "a dedicated CKD assembly plant". The only address given is the Lahore head office.
You will see Sheikhupura quoted as the location. It may well be right, but it is not published by the company, so we are not stating it as fact.
Second, the date. Buraq's page says 2027 with no month attached. January is widely reported but does not appear on the company's own site.
Third, and this one is odd. The page contradicts itself about which brands the plant will build.
Its history section says the plant covers Benelli, QJ Motor and Moto Morini. Its timeline says assembly begins in 2027 "of Benelli and Moto Morini models", leaving QJ Motor out.
Three brands in one paragraph, two in another, on the same page. Nobody has reconciled them, and that is worth asking about.
The Chinese Group Behind the Italian Badge
This is the part that explains the whole arrangement, and most coverage leaves it out.
Buraq says it was incorporated in 2015 while "simultaneously entering an exclusive distribution agreement with China's Qianjiang Group".
It then used that agreement to bring Benelli to Pakistan. Read that again, because it answers an obvious question.
An Italian motorcycle brand reaches Pakistan through a Chinese group's distribution deal. Benelli's ownership sits with that group.
And QJ Motor belongs to the same parent. That is why one Lahore company distributes both brands, and why one plant can realistically build both.
None of this diminishes Benelli. It is a genuinely old Italian marque with real history behind the name.
But it does set expectations correctly. A locally assembled Benelli will be built from Chinese-supplied kits, not shipped from Italy in pieces.
What Is CKD Assembly?
Two abbreviations decide the price of almost every vehicle sold here, so they are worth knowing.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| CBU | Completely Built Unit. The bike arrives fully assembled. |
| CKD | Completely Knocked Down. Parts and kits arrive and are put together here. |
Benelli bikes have been sold here as CBU imports. Buraq's own page confirms the brand debuted nationwide with the TNT 25 as an imported CBU.
The difference matters because the two are taxed differently. A box of parts and a finished motorcycle do not attract the same import treatment.
That is the whole commercial logic of local assembly. It changes the cost structure, not the motorcycle.
Which Benelli Could Be Assembled First?
No model has been confirmed, so this is reasoning rather than news. But Buraq's own page gives a strong clue.
It describes the TNT 150i and the 180S as "becoming its most widely adopted platforms in the local market".
That is the company's own assessment of what sells. And a new assembly line almost always starts with volume.
A CKD operation needs enough units to justify tooling, training and parts inventory. You do not start with your rarest model.
So the 150i and 180S look like the likeliest openers. The 302S and TNT 600i sit further up the range and sell in smaller numbers.
Treat all four as possible and none as confirmed. Being in the imported lineup is not the same as being chosen for assembly.
Will Locally Assembled Benelli Bikes Be Cheaper?
We are not going to promise you that, and anyone who does is guessing.
Local assembly can reduce some import-related costs, which is the honest version of the claim. Whether that reaches the showroom price is a separate question.
Several things sit in between. Component costs, the duty structure on kits, local production expenses, and the company's own pricing strategy.
A plant also has to be paid for. Early production runs carry setup costs that later ones do not.
There is also no revised Benelli price list in existence yet. No locally assembled price has been announced for any model.
So the fair statement is this. Local assembly could make selected Benelli motorcycles more competitively priced, and we will know when Buraq publishes a number.
What to Watch For on 2 November
That date is days away, so here is a short checklist to judge the announcement by.
Which model is named, and is it one of the volume bikes or something higher up the range? That tells you how serious the volume plan is.
Is a price attached, or only a model name? An announcement without a number is a marketing milestone rather than a commercial one.
Is the 2027 start reaffirmed, and does a month finally get attached to it? Watch for the plant's location being named too.
When do bookings open, and when do deliveries begin? Those two are the questions a buyer actually needs answered.
And will the specification match the imported bike? Locally assembled versions sometimes differ in equipment, so ask rather than assume.
What This Could Mean for Pakistan's Premium Bike Market
Pakistan's motorcycle market is overwhelmingly made of small commuters. Anything above 150cc is a niche here.
Local assembly of a premium brand changes that arithmetic, because it attacks the price barrier rather than the interest.
It should also improve the thing premium buyers worry about most. Local assembly usually means better parts availability and service support.
That has been the real obstacle for imported bikes here. A beautiful motorcycle is no use if a part takes three months to arrive.
This is also not a single-brand story. Buraq is preparing the same programme for another Italian marque, and we covered Moto Morini's planned local assembly in Pakistan separately.
Keep those two apart in your head. Moto Morini and Benelli have different first models and different schedules, even inside the same plant.

Separate from the news, one thing is worth saying to anyone buying a premium motorcycle.
Paint is the first thing to suffer. Stone chips, bag scuffs and everyday handling mark a tank and fairing quickly.
We offer paint protection film for bikes and fit it in house in Multan. We also stock PPF for a range of vehicles.
An honest note on fitment. Our bike listings currently cover common commuters, so message us with your exact model before ordering anything for a Benelli.
Final Thoughts
The plan is real and officially documented. Buraq has been the exclusive distributor since 2015, started building a CKD plant in 2025, and has that plant scheduled for commercial assembly in 2027.
What is not official yet is the month, the plant's location, the first model and any price. Three of those four are being quoted as settled, and none of them appears on the company's own page.
Watch 2 November for a model name and, more importantly, a number beside it. We will update this article when there is one.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will Benelli start local assembly in Pakistan?
Buraq Automobile's own page says its CKD plant is scheduled to begin commercial assembly in 2027, with no month given. January is the month quoted elsewhere, yet the company has not published it. No first Benelli model has been confirmed either.
Who is the official Benelli distributor in Pakistan?
Buraq Automobile, a Lahore-based company incorporated in 2015. Its own profile gives it exclusive national distribution for three brands: Benelli, QJ Motor and Moto Morini.
Which Benelli will be assembled first?
Not announced. The TNT 150i and 180S look likeliest, because Buraq's own page calls them its most widely adopted platforms locally and assembly lines start with volume. That is our inference, not a confirmation, and the 302S and TNT 600i remain possible.
Where will the assembly plant be?
Buraq's own page does not name a location. It refers only to a dedicated CKD assembly plant whose construction began in 2025, and the only address it gives is the Lahore head office. Sheikhupura is quoted elsewhere but is not company-published.
Will Benelli bikes become cheaper after local assembly?
Possibly, but nothing is confirmed. CKD assembly can cut some import-related costs, while component prices, duties, production expenses and pricing strategy all affect the final figure. No locally assembled Benelli price has been announced.
What is CKD assembly?
Completely Knocked Down. Components or kits are imported and the vehicle is put together at a local facility. The alternative is CBU, a Completely Built Unit that arrives finished. The two are treated differently for import purposes, which is the commercial point.
Is Benelli an Italian or a Chinese brand?
Benelli is an Italian marque whose ownership sits with China's Qianjiang Group. Buraq says it brought Benelli to Pakistan through its exclusive agreement with that group, which also owns QJ Motor. So a locally assembled Benelli would be built from Chinese-supplied kits.
Which brands will the plant build?
Buraq's page is inconsistent on this. Its history section lists Benelli, QJ Motor and Moto Morini, while its timeline says assembly begins in 2027 of Benelli and Moto Morini models only. Both statements sit on the same page, and the difference has not been explained.
